Apply to First State Squash

Annually, Wilmington youth are provided with the opportunity to try-out for First State Squash. Each year, FSS staff visit local schools to introduce students to the sport of squash and the details of our program. Those that are interested in joining the program full-time attend a rigorous 1 - 2 month long try-out process that introduces them to our daily programming structure. Additionally, they are required to submit teacher recommendations as well as a written application.

First State Squash actively seeks students that are academically motivated, excited about athletic opportunities, committed to attending FSS consistently and aspire to attend college.

First State Squash currently works with students attending and in partnership with the following Wilmington Title I public and charter schools:

  • The Bayard Middle School

  • Thomas Edison Charter School

  • Great Oaks Charter School

  • Kuumba Academy

  • Freire Charter School
